FIVE THINGS TO WATCH VS SOUTH CAROLINA

NUMBER 3 – GAMECOCKS NOT GOOD AT STOPPING THE RUN

Maybe it’s unfair since South Carolina went up against Benny Snell and the Kentucky Wildcats last week, but they got gashed on the ground. The Wildcats put up 195 yards on the ground with Snell totaling 99 of those.

As for the good guys, they’ve had a resurgence with their run game and that might be their bread and butter this weekend, assuming they’re locked up in a tight one. While no running back in particular stood out two weeks ago, the Tigers still totaled 175 yards and four touchdowns on the ground against the Bulldogs.

MU is going to need another dominant running game this week and take some of the pressure off of Lock. They don’t have a running back quite on Snell’s level, but Damarea Crockett and Larry Rountree are both able backs and can do serious damage if the opportunities are there.

it is worth noting, however, that South Carolina hasn’t always struggled against the run. They held Vanderbilt to under 100 yards rushing two weeks ago, but that’s Vanderbilt. Missouri brings another tough run game that could cause problems for the Gamecocks this weekend.
