ARMANI WATTS

The Chiefs fourth round pick was recently moved back on the depth chart, which could have been cause for concern. While there’s not necessarily a worry that Armani Watts won’t make the team (he will), he stepped up and made a pretty big play on Friday night.

On the Falcons’ final drive of the game, Watts was able to punch the football out and force a fumble. It was a very typical Chiefs defense type of play and ones that we have come to know and love over the years.

Watts won’t be an immediate starter and might not start at all this year, but he has the ability to be a special player. The secondary is going to be a headache in 2018, but if Watts can make plays like the one he did on Friday, he could become one of the more reliable players on the defensive side of the ball.

Continue to watch for Armani Watts over these next few weeks. The rookie played a great deal in the first game of the preseason and followed that up with a nice performance in game number two. Hopefully that’s a sign of what’s to come for the rookie out of Texas A&M.
