Kansas State Football: Conference should be the apple of Wildcats eye
By John McCarty
What do the Cats need to do better?
Can we get a pass rush?
Kansas State needs to rush the passer better. Yes, many teams in the Big 12 emphasize quick passes, but the Wildcats still must do better. They only recorded 24 sacks last season as a team, recording four of those takedowns in their season opener against Central Arkansas, a much lesser opponent.
That Cats must force teams into long down and distances to create more favorable matchups and turnover opportunities. Junior Reggie Walker and sophmore Kyle Ball must provide that pressure from the outside if the Cats defense is going to hold up.
Linebackers
While there are a lot of linebackers with experience, the starters are all gone. While the potential for solid contributors abound, questions still remain as to what exactly the the group will play like.
If California transfer Da’Quan Patton can team up with Elijiah Sullivan and senior Justin Hughes, the Cats could have something at linebacker. That being said, however, it must be played out on the field, and the linebackers have a lot of questions left to be answered.
