VETERANS THAT MIGHT NOT MAKE THE ROSTER – ALLEN BAILEY

This is one that would be mainly due to financial reasons. Allen Bailey isn’t what he used to be, but he’s still a starter on most teams. He is, however, in the final year of his contract and set to make $8 million this year.

Cutting Bailey would result in $2 million in dead money, but it’s still a move I could see them making. The former third round pick hasn’t been what he once was, appearing in 14 games last year and totaling 21 tackles with two sacks.

Bailey missed nearly all of 2016 due to injury (he played in five games) and he’s 29 years old. With the Chiefs going nearly all defense in their most recent draft, that shows they’re heading toward a rebuild with the younger defense and Bailey could be the easy cut in this group.

Again, this one would be focused toward building a younger defensive group and saving what little money the Chiefs can. Allen Bailey would probably be starting somewhere else if the Chiefs cut him, but the decision still wouldn’t shock me.
