ROUND 4: PICK 22 (124TH OVERALL) – DUKE EJIOFOR, EDGE (WAKE FOREST)

Remember how I mentioned that the KC Chiefs pass rush was lacking pressure of any kind? Well, Duke Ejiofor had no problem getting to and sacking the quarterback during his four year career at Wake Forest. He’s the perfect pick for the Chiefs in the fourth round.

Ejiofor totaled 133 tackles (43.5 for loss) and 24 sacks in four years with the Demon Deacons. His most impressive campaign came as a junior in 2016 when he had 50 tackles and a whopping ten and a half sacks!

What makes Ejiofor so effective at getting to the quarterback are the different techniques he has (see the highlights video above for examples). The Chiefs are desperate for a defender who can get after the quarterback and Ejiofor fits that mold, even if he does need some polishing.

According to Jon Dove of With the First Pick

"This is a defender who plays with a good motor and is always in pursuit of the football. Ejiofor is someone who could enter the league and quickly flourish as a situational pass rusher. He would need to improve his ability to support the run in order to be a more rounded player."

Defense is going to be a strong focus for the Kansas City Chiefs in this year’s draft and Duke Ejiofor will hopefully be someone that rises to the top for the organization.
