Kansas City Chiefs: Free Agency Preview

Offense: Offensive Line

Barring any unforeseen issues, the Kansas City Chiefs should be returning their starting offensive line in 2018. That includes the option of either Bryan Witzmann or Parker Ehinger at left guard. I fully expect the team to also sign Mitch Morse to a contract extension as well. The continuity of this group should be excellent, but some depth wouldn’t hurt.

  1. John Greco – G/C – Giants: A veteran who has started all along the interior offensive line, Greco is coming to the end of his career. He’s dealt with some injuries and inconsistencies over the year, but has also played extremely well at times. Could challenge for the starting left guard spot.
  2. Austin Pasztor – G/T – Falcons: A journeyman backup with some starting time here and there, Pasztor has experience at almost every spot on the line. He’s a versatile option that can be put in the mix just about anywhere he is needed. That means the Chiefs could save a roster spot for another position group.
  3. Will Beatty – T – Eagles: Beatty never quite lived up to his promise, but has had some good seasons in the NFL. Experienced at both tackle spots, he can be an effective swing tackle for the Chiefs. If he’s fully healthy and strong, he could even push Eric Fisher a bit at left tackle.

There isn’t a whole lot to expect from Kansas City in the offensive line free agency market. However, they could definitely pursue some quality options. We saw this year just how important it is to have good depth on the offensive line. Hopefully the Chiefs won’t need any of the players they add here, but it’s still good to add them.
