Kansas City Chiefs: Replacing Bob Sutton

#10 Britt Reid: DL Coach – Chiefs

This is the move that would make Kansas City Chiefs fans cringe, and give all the radio talk show guys plenty to harp on. I can’t speak to any degree of certainty on the qualifications of Britt Reid, but you know that calls of “cronyism” and “nepotism” will be loud. Andy Reid cannot replace an embattled veteran coach with his son and go unscathed.

Of course, it’s not as though Britt Reid is without his own resume. The Chiefs have actually developed a number of quality players on the defensive front with Reid as the line coach. Most notably, Rakeem Nunez-Roches has been a nice surprise, earning starting reps. We have also seen Chris Jones develop rather quickly.

On the other hand, the failures of the Kansas City run defense are going to be hard to overlook. That starts up front with a defensive line that struggles to hold their ground. It’s hard to expect an improvement there from the coach who has been largely responsible for fixing it already. That’s a big strike against Britt Reid.
