AGE IS ONLY A NUMBER

Before the game even started, Mahomes made a statement (see below). Yeah, that’s right, he proved his worth before kickoff. Mahomes may be a rookie at the age of 22, but he still full took control of the team off of the football field.

Mahomes gathered the team, as a quarterback should, and he fired them up. Fired them up to a degree where it made them ready for battle. As a quarterback in the NFL, holding yourself accountable for the team is key. His nature showed poise, and shows he loves his team, even if he is not the starter.

The rookie showed everyone he has control of the team, and more importantly – his team respects him. Kansas City Chiefs team reporter BJ Kissel captured a moment before kickoff worth noting. There is not much to say other than what was already stated. So go ahead and watch for yourself.

"“Take advantage of every opportunity”"

Mahomes encouraged his team before taking the field, just prior to kickoff. Perhaps telling everyone to take advantage of every opportunity was a reminder for himself as well.

Erase the work of third-string quarterback Tyler Bray letting the Broncos tie the game, Mahomes and company easily defeated the starters for the Broncos. The Chiefs did take advantage of every opportunity and the opportunities clearly benefited the Chiefs. These are some wise words for a youngster to tell a team with varying ages on the roster.
