It’s true that teams can’t win every game, but the Kansas Jayhawks needed to take down as many non-conference opponents as possible this year.

This was definitely a winnable game for the Jayhawks, but a horrible secondary and bad turnovers led to the Chippewas getting a big time lead and never looking back. Central Michigan made the big plays and were the better team on Saturday, point blank.

Kansas has looked more athletic and more competitive this year, which is a great sign, but they need to win these types of games if they ever want to get anywhere meaningful. Facing a MAC opponent on your home turf after a blowout win the week prior is a game that KU football should have won.

Next up will be the Ohio Bobcats, another MAC opponent, on the road in Athens, Ohio. Ohio defeated Kansas in Lawrence a year ago, but the Jayhawks slowly climbed their way back in that game. Hopefully this time Kansas figures out a way to beat the Bobcats and can get to 2-1 on the year.
