TOP 15 DEEP SLEEPERS TO TARGET IN 2017 – NUMBER 7: CARSON WENTZ

There are a lot of fantasy football drafts where Carson Wentz isn’t even getting drafted and that’s not shocking honestly. Wentz, who started off slick as a rookie last year, threw for 3,782 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions in 2016.

Wentz looked really good to start his career, but struggled down the stretch. It’s because of those mid to late season struggles why Wentz is being included as a deep sleeper.

No one is going to pick up Wentz as anything other than a backup quarterback right now. He threw almost as many interceptions as he did touchdowns last year, and now one of his favorite targets in Jordan Matthews is off to Buffalo. Hardly a lot to cheer about there.

Wentz, however, will have Alshon Jeffery and Torrey Smith to throw to as well as LeGarrette Blount and Darren Sproles in the backfield. The talent is all there for Wentz to put up stats, but I understand not having him as a starter or even on your team at all.

The sophomore slump is a real thing for pro quarterbacks and that’s what a lot of people are buying into with Carson Wentz. He will do okay in year two with the talent around him and will be worth having as a backup as the season progresses.
