TOP 15 DEEP SLEEPERS TO TARGET IN 2017 – NUMBER 6: REX BURKHEAD

Unless you’re a diehard Nebraska Cornhuskers fan, Rex Burkhead probably isn’t an NFL name that you know. Burkhead spent the first four years of his career with Cincinnati and now is a member of the New England Patriots.

Burkhead’s fantasy football stock has risen dramatically over the past few weeks, so he might even be past the deep sleeper label now. Mike Gillislee, however, will likely get the starting role at running back in New England, which still makes Burkhead one of the best kept secrets in fantasy football this year.

This will be Gillislee’s first year as a Patriot as well and he’s coming off an eight touchdown season with the Bills in 2016. The Patriots have always done well at turning nobodies into somebodies on their offense and this year could be no different with both Gillislee and Burkhead at the helm.

Burkhead had his best year as a pro last year, rushing for 344 yards and two touchdowns in Cincinnati. Now that he’s at least going to be second on the depth chart, he’s definitely someone to take a chance on.
