Kansas City Royals Single-Season Home Runs #3

Gary Gaetti – 35 (1995)

Another mid-level veteran signing by the Royals in hopes of sparking something was Gary Gaetti. Of course, for the most part it wouldn’t work out for Kansas City. However, after a pair of injury-shortened seasons, Gaetti broke out in 1995 with one of the best seasons in his very long career.

Gary Gaetti’s years in Kansas City were largely forgettable. He was well past his prime at this point and had become a journeyman veteran. However, much like Chili Davis, his time with the Royals did allow him to set a personal best for home runs.

Unfortunately, Gaetti’s efforts didn’t do much for the Royals. His time in Kansas City coincided with the Bob Boone Era that saw the Royals play some of their worst baseball as a team. It’s frustrating to look back and see how many quality players had decent seasons around that time, but nothing could be put together.
