ERIC SKOGLUND

If you’re a KC Royals fan and haven’t heard of Eric Skoglund by now, then I question your fandom. Skoglund had a hell of an MLB debut, throwing 6.1 innings of shutout baseball while only allowing two hits. He walked only one guy and struck out five batters. His ERA is 0.00, the best on the Royals team next to Kevin McCarthy (both newbies).

It was certainly a debut for the ages, but can Skoglund keep it up? Opposing teams will now have had a chance to watch his pitches and study them more, so he could experience a major setback this Sunday when he toes the slab against the Indians.

Living in the moment, Eric Skoglund provided the best moment of the season for Royals fans. It’s been a depressing season so far, but ol’ Skoggy provided a gem of a game and the K was filled with happy fans for the first time since last season.

While it’d be impressive to see Skoglund go out and deal again this weekend, don’t count on it. He’ll surrender more than two hits and will probably give up his first MLB run. Here’s to hoping I’m wrong though!
