WHIT MERRIFIELD

Whit Merrifield is riding a 16-game hitting streak and has been absolutely on fire during that stretch. He almost lost his streak, but managed to single in his last at-bat.

Merrifield’s hitting streak dates all the way back to May 13th and he’s been seeing the baseball incredibly well since that time. A lot of people who don’t follow Royals baseball might not even know who the heck Whit Merrifield is, but he’s slowly becoming a guy to watch in Major League Baseball.

There’s no doubt to any Royals fan that second base has been a glaring hole for some time, but Merrifield is starting to become a lock to play there every day. There’s no need to bring up Raul Mondesi Jr. or have Cheslor Cuthbert start there.

Second base is Whit’s job and he’s proving every day why he doesn’t deserve to go back to the minor leagues any time soon.
