Fred Williamson – Chiefs: “The Hammer”

Ultimately, former Kansas City Chiefs defensive back Fred “The Hammer” Williamson is probably least remembered for his time in KC. The star player only spent a few seasons with the Chiefs, and not his best ones, before turning to a career in Hollywood.

The star defensive back turned low-budget film star’s biggest highlight in Kansas City may have been his worst one. Ahead of Super Bowl I, Williamson talked about taking players out in the big game. Instead, he would end up leaving the game early after taking a huge shot. It was about as good a piece of symbolism as you could find for that game.

“The Hammer” would go on to star in some cult classics “Black Ceasar” and “Three The Hard Way“. However, for many in Kansas City, he would always be remembered as a big cog of the Chiefs golden years in the 60s.

Of course, there may be nothing better than his cameos…
