Potential Departures for Next Season

Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk

Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk is an offensive machine that can crank every three-pointer possible and drive to the lane when needed. His defense is another story though. While Svi did improve his defense during the NCAA Tournament, pretty much every Jayhawk did.

[Mykhaliuk] will need to get his defensive efforts figured out before he even thinks about the NBA. He is only 19 years old after all.

So, is his lack of defense enough to get him to the high rounds of the NCAA Tournament? No, he honestly needs some more time.

With an average of 9.8 points last season and three rebounds, a 44.3 field goal percentage, and a 39.8 three point percentage per SportsReference, Svi had a pretty good season. At times though, his defense drew more headlines.

Not the headlines you want, either.

Remember against TCU in the Big 12 Tournament when Svi fouled a three-point shooter to give TCU a three-point lead that eventually sealed the game? Do you remember when Svi got lit up on the perimeter by close to all of the players on Iowa State?

Svi has had some extreme difficulty with his defense particularly in his whole career. He will need to get his defensive efforts figured out before he even thinks about the NBA. He is only 19 years old after all.

Will He Stay or Will He Go?

Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk will stay. Svi definitely needs time to improve his game and gain more maturity before he head into the NBA. One season could give him some serious benefits, but whether he sees that or not is all up to his decision.

I think he could be leaning toward leaving, but he should stay.
