Daniel Sorensen – Safety (Tendered)

The Kansas City Chiefs locked up their deep secondary group from 2016 by placing the second round tender on Daniel Sorensen. Though only a one year contract, this move gives  the Chiefs some options with the hard-nosed safety moving forward.

Because Dan Sorensen was tendered and not signed, he can still negotiate with other teams. If another team views him as a starting caliber player, they could make an offer. From there, the Chiefs would have to decide between matching that offer or letting him go. If Sorensen were to leave the Chiefs this year, it would result in KC getting an additional second round pick.

Ultimately I believe that Dan Sorensen will play out this season with the Kansas City Chiefs. I don’t see another team viewing him as being worth losing a second round pick. However, if Sorensen has another strong year, he will likely depart in Free Agency next year for a starting job. So I wouldn’t rule out the Chiefs drafting a safety this year.
