KC Chiefs: Looking Back at Regular Season Schedule Predictions
Week 6 – Chiefs at Raiders
Chiefs won 26-10 (My prediction: 20-6, Raiders)
In my first wrong prediction of the season, the Chiefs went down to the Black Hole after their week five bye and continued to dominate the Oakland Raiders. The Chiefs have had Derek Carr‘s number ever since he joined the Raiders, as the young quarterback only has beat Kansas City once in his three-year career.
"In other words, these aren’t the same Raiders we’ve been watching for the past 14 years. Oakland has a shot to be good this season, and I think the Chiefs experience that the hard way in week six."
I was correct about the Raiders being a good team this year, as they had the same record as the Chiefs at 12-4.
Carr and the Raiders marched down the field and scored right off the bat, but would only tack on a field goal for the rest of the day. The Chiefs defense shut down Oakland’s offense and they never looked like they were in this thing once the second half was underway.
Alex Smith had a nice day, with over 200 yards passing. He’s always been effective against the Raiders and has only lost to them once since joining the Chiefs in 2013. I guess you could call Smith a “Raider Killer”.
I was correct about the Raiders being a good team this year, as they had the same record as the Chiefs at 12-4. It seems unfair that a team with four losses has to play a road game in the first round of the playoffs, but I don’t care when it happens to Oakland.
Picking against Andy Reid after a bye week was a poor decision by me. I was happy to be wrong about my prediction in this game and was ecstatic that Kansas City handed Oakland their second loss of the season.
