AFC Playoffs: 6th Seed

Denver Broncos (8-4)

Kansas City Chiefs fans had a nice snicker last week when the Denver Broncos fell out of the top six spots in the playoff race. However, the Broncos climbed back into the race by beating the hapless Jaguars and getting help from an exposed Dolphins squad. Denver now sits a firm game up on the next best teams in the Wild Card hunt.

The Broncos have anything but an easy path to the playoffs despite their lead. Denver starts with a road game against the upstart Tennessee Titans this week. That will be followed by a tough match up with the Patriots before going to Kansas City to face the Chiefs. They end the season with a home game against the Oakland Raiders. Ouch.

Denver is clearly not as talented a team as they were in 2015. The defending Super Bowl champs have regressed on both sides of the ball. It’s strange to think about, but there is a good chance that both of last year’s Super Bowl teams miss the playoffs in 2016. The Broncos have a tough road to travel to avoid that.
