A lot has changed for both the Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints since the last time they squared off over four years ago. I asked Barry about what had changed the most for his squad since that game.

LO: The last time these two teams met in the regular season was in 2012. What has changed the most for the Saints since that game?

BH: Well, the biggest thing would be the coaching staff.

In that game, you had Sean Payton suspended for the year because of the punishment handed down by the League for “Bountygate”, and in his place was offensive line coach Aaron Kromer, who was clearly out of his element.

And the other of course would be personnel. In that game, you had skill players like Darren Sproles, Marques Colston, and Jimmy Graham. Now you have Mark Ingram, Brandin Cooks, and Coby Fleener.

But the one constant always is and has been Drew Brees, who passed for 3 TD’s in that game, but struggled in the 4th quarter and in overtime as the Chiefs eventually won it (27-24) on a Ryan Succop field goal.

This is a much easier question for the Chiefs, as a lot has gone down since that game. The 2012 season ended with a 2-14 record and a lot of the “top” guys losing their jobs.

The offseason then brought John Dorsey, Andy Reid, and Alex Smith to Kansas City in a new era of KC Chiefs football. The team has had winning records every year since then *knock on wood*.
