Andy Mulumba – OLB – 4th Season (1st with Chiefs)

The Kansas City Chiefs like bringing in former Packers linebackers.  There is the obvious connection with John Dorsey, but it is also a case of Green Bay having a good eye for the position.  Andy Mulumba hoped to follow in the line of Frank Zombo and Dezman Moses, but it didn’t not work out.

Andy Mulumba sat at the bottom of the Chiefs depth chart throughout most of the preseason.  He was brought in to help fill out a questionable depth chart at outside linebacker, but never made much of an impact.  Mulumba was passed by rookie Dadi Nicolas fairly quickly, and that was the writing on the wall.

Actually, Chiefs fans should be very excited about this.  Andy Mulumba was essentially the competition for Dadi Nicolas.  Mulumba is not a bad depth option, and he will be playing for another team.  However, it has been clear that Nicolas has some real talent and potential for the Chiefs to work with.

I would be surprised if Mulumba clears waivers.  There are plenty of 3-4 defenses out there that could use a guy like him on their roster.  Mark this down as one of those “difficult cuts”, because Mulumba would likely have made the Chiefs roster in 2013.
