The Kansas City Chiefs’ 2016 schedule doesn’t look too terrifying, but there are most certainly some “trap games” that could spell doom for the contending team.

The KC Chiefs are contenders heading into 2016, but that doesn’t mean anything until they go out there and prove it. With the schedule they have this season, it doesn’t seem too crazy of a thought for them to win the AFC West and a first round bye, but it also doesn’t seem farfetched for them to botch it and miss the playoffs all together.

The games that really scare true fans aren’t the ones against the top dogs. As sports fans, we usually know what our teams are capable of and who they can and can’t beat.

No, the games that actually terrify me to my very soul are what are referred to as “trap games”. Trap games are games that on paper, the Chiefs should win, but that when the game actually is played, they screw up and lose and everyone is sad and miserable.

These games happen a lot, not just to the Chiefs, but in sports everywhere. Two seasons ago, the Chiefs were defeated badly by the Titans in week one of the NFL regular season, and it’s a game that they should have not only won, but dominated in.

Rewind to a little further back during the 2011 season and you’ll remember the Chiefs ending Green Bay’s undefeated season that year. The Packers should have won that one, but they fell into a trap game and Kansas City got to be on the better side of that one.

Trap games happen all the time, and I’ve compiled the five biggest trap games for the Kansas City Chiefs heading into the 2016 season. Let’s take a look.
