RCB – Steven Nelson, Phillip Gaines, DJ White, Deveron Carr
After the surprise with Marcus Cooper, the Kansas City Chiefs hit us with an even bigger one as Steven Nelson is listed as the starter on the right side ahead of Phillip Gaines. This may have to do with Gaines still returning from injury, but it is surprising nonetheless. This situation gets even stranger on the field as the Chiefs rotate Nelson into the slot in Nickel formations with Gaines taking the outside spot.
Steven Nelson and DJ White are likely locks for the roster. It’s hard to see the Chiefs moving on from either of them right now. Phillip Gaines should be a lock, but a lot of that will depend on his recovery. The Chiefs have shown in the past they will move on from guys who simply can’t get healthy. Deveron Carr is not likely to make the roster, but may have a shot at the Practice Squad.
