Fantasy Football Sleepers to Target in 2016 – Number 14: Sterling Shepard

Sterling Shepard is heading into his rookie year for the New York Giants, which automatically puts him as a sleeper for fantasy football. Rookies have broken out in a big way before (RGIII, Russell Wilson, etc), but wide receivers can be a little bit more difficult, especially if they have others to compete with for playing time.

Shepard will likely be replacing Rueben Randle in the Big Apple this season and should fare nicely with Eli Manning throwing the ball to him. Manning loves relying on his receivers and Shepard was one of the best in the draft this year.

Joe Reedman of Number Fire predicts that Shepard could be the best rookie wide receiver this year for fantasy football.

What puts Shepard in the sleeper category is that A) he’s a rookie and B) He’ll have to compete with Odell Beckham Jr. and Victor Cruz for a lot of playing time. Even if he’s used in the slot, he might not get as many yards there.
