Wilmington Blue Rocks: 3-3

The Blue Rocks went 1-2 in their first three games of the week and finished with a series win over Potomac. It was good for the Blue Rocks to get a couple of wins against Potomac after they were swept by them to begin the year.

Austin Bailey, a middle infielder, leads the charge for the Blue Rocks so far this season with a .450 batting average. It’s a very small sample size, but the middle infielder has nine hits in 20 at-bats this season.

Ryan O’Hearn is putting up some very impressive numbers so far this year. On the season he sports a .429 batting average with two home runs, four doubles, and six RBIs. Both of those home runs came in won of the wins this week and made up the difference in the 6-3 win.

Pedro Fernandez, the Royals’ 21st ranked prospect, is looking good for the Blue Rocks this season. Not only did he pick up a win this week, he’s also got a 1.74 ERA on the season. He’s pitched 10.1 innings and has nine strikeouts. He also gave up three walks so his control needs some work.

Derek Gordon, Alex Gordon‘s younger brother, pitched five innings this week. He struck out seven but also gave up a home run. He’s got a 3.52 ERA on the season.

Josh Staumont, the Royals’ 18th ranked prospect, leads the team in strikeouts this season with 12. This week he pitched four innings and struck out five. He’s got a lot of swing and miss to his game and could be a dominant bullpen pitcher someday if he ever learns to command his pitches.
