Husain Abdullah

People might not know this, but Husain Abdullah is a free agent and one that the Chiefs could really use in 2016 and beyond.

Abdullah has been terrific for the Chiefs in just three seasons. He’s had two interceptions, both going for touchdowns, and has totaled 108 tackles.

Even though he’s not a huge name, Abdullah could get a good contract with another team who is in need of a safety.

Abdullah isn’t one of the bigger names on the Chiefs roster, but he’s been a critical member in the secondary. The beginning of the 2015 season saw Eric Berry not as a starter due to coming back from cancer. Abdullah got the starts during that time and looked decent.

Even though he’s not a huge name, Abdullah could get a good contract with another team who is in need of a safety. He’s proven to be reliable and very well could flourish in another team’s secondary.

The Chiefs don’t need starting safeties, as they have both Berry and Ron Parker, so Abdullah is expendable sadly.

The writing will really be on the wall for Abdullah’s KC days if Tyvon Branch returns to the team. Branch is a free agent and could be leaving as well, but more than likely would be the cheaper option if the Chiefs had to pick one to keep.

The good news is that there doesn’t appear to be a lot of buzz on Abdullah throughout the web. Nathaniel Reeves of FanSided.com actually sees Abdullah returning to Kansas City on a two-year deal worth eight million dollars. I could live with that.
