The Bad: Tigers’ Receivers/Tight Ends

Let me start this one with a disclaimer: this group is young. Outside of receiver Wesley Leftwich, all of the Tigers that receive decent playing time are either freshmen or sophomores, and none of them received much playing time last year.

That being said, youth is no excuse for the poor play that these players showed on Saturday. There were bad routes, dropped balls and poor effort throughout the game. At one point, tight end Jason Reese just watches Florida defender Jalen Tabor take the ball out of his hands and return it for a pick-six.

I know quarterback Drew Lock deserves some blame as well, but this was his first real test, and the results were to be expected. Plus, I think Lock would have done a lot better if his receivers would have played better.

It was a poor showing for Mizzou’s receivers, but there is still a lot of season left. Hopefully this young group can start to put something together.
