Late game offense

On a very similar note, the KC Chiefs offense disappeared near the end of the game as well. Kansas City was able to put up 27 points, but they all came in the first half. In fact, the Chiefs scored points on five straight possessions and looked like they were rolling and on their way to a rout of the Texans.

Alex Smith had three touchdown passes, two to Travis Kelce and one to Jamaal Charles, but things cooled off for the offense in the second half.

Had Smith kept up the pace he had going in the first half, there’s no way this game would have remained close, but the offense was non-existent when the team returned from half time. It was a little concerning.

The Chiefs’ drives in the second half looked like this:

  • Punt

  • Punt
  • Punt
  • Missed field goal
  • Punt

That’s a lot of punts!

Hopefully Kansas City can keep a consistent rhythm going in future games. They’ll need to in the next few weeks against some tough opponents.
