1. The Chiefs Offense Was On Fire Early

The Chiefs started fast in this game. After an awesome three-and-out start from the defense, the Chiefs offense got things going on the ground, and through the air. It ended with their 15th play of the drive, when Alex Smith ran the option and flipped the ball to Jamaal Charles for the one yard touchdown.

On that drive, Smith went 4 for 5 for 31 yards while Charles carried the ball six times for 34 yards.

The Chiefs opening drive touchdown marked the first time in 30 games that Seattle has allowed a touchdown on an opponents opening drive.

Everything seemed to be working, as Coach Reid got a lot of different pieces working early. Knile Davis touched the ball a few times, De’Anthony Thomas ran a couple jet sweeps, and Travis Kelce was making plays up the seams.

The Chiefs opening drive touchdown marked the first time in 30 games that Seattle has allowed a touchdown on an opponents opening drive. That stat alone speaks volumes about how prepared the Chiefs were to play in this game against this number four ranked rushing defense.

They weren’t finished either, scoring a touchdown on their second drive too. This is the second time the Chiefs have done that this season, the first against the Jets on November 2nd. Starting off hot like this gives the Chiefs an edge for their defense and helps set a tone.

They did both of those things yesterday.
