San Diego Chargers tight end Antonio Gates (85) Stan Liu-USA TODAY Sports

That’s it for my top ten tight ends. Like I mentioned earlier, it’s important that the tight end you draft is in a system where he will be running routes and scoring touchdowns, not pass blocking.

  • There are some players I like that are just barely outside my tight end. If you can’t get any of these players, don’t worry too much. Players like Charles Clay and Martellus Bennett had promising seasons last year, and have a good chance to be a Top 10 caliber player.

And don’t forget about Antonio Gates. While Gates is 34 years old, he is still Phillip Rivers‘ favorite target in the red zone.

If you are looking to impress some friends by looking for a sleeper tight end, I’d suggest going after either Lions rookie Eric Ebron or Chargers tight end LaDarius Green.

Ebron had a solid season last year at North Carolina, and should be a nice option along with Calvin Johnson. As far as Green goes, Chiefs fans know far too well what kind of player he is.

Do you agree or disagree with any of my picks? Let me know in the comments what you think, and I’ll try to answer any questions you may have.
