The KC Royals are coming off of their first losing streak of the season. They’ll have a tall task ahead of them shaking said streak this weekend.

The KC Royals endured their first three-game losing streak of the season in a poor offensive showing against the Angels earlier in the week.

The final game of the series saw them go 0-7 with runners in scoring position. It was pretty prevalent throughout the series as the Royals are now batting a miserable .214 on the season with runners in scoring position.

It seems that about half the lineup is cold and half the lineup is hitting. Eric Hosmer, Mike Moustakas, and Jarrod Dyson are certainly doing their parts. Salvador Perez and even Omar Infante have been producing at the dish also (Athough, Perez swung at a pitch in his last at-bat on Wednesday that was so far outside, it landed back in Kansas City).

On the other hand, the Royals have some players who aren’t hitting so well. Alcides Escobar, Lorenzo Cain, Kendrys Morales, and Alex Gordon are all struggling at the plate. In fact, none of them has a batting average as high as .225 on the season.

What entails is a lineup that rotates between hot and cold players. That eliminates the frenzied hitting and the increased strikeout rate doesn’t help matters either. Strikeouts are up across the league so the Royals are still among the league’s best in contact rate.

The Royals need to start hitting this weekend but have a tall task ahead of them. King Felix takes the mound for the Mariners in game one. Let’s see how the Royals stack up against the Mariners in this weekends’ match-up.
