As far as Houston goes, he’s looking to get payed like a top level pass rusher.

Ben Nielsen over at Arrowhead Addict broke it down perfectly,

"One would expect a new deal for Houston to be very lucrative. Clay Matthews andTamba Hali have to two highest total value contracts in football for 34 outside linebackers. One would assume Houston’s new deal would rival the $66 million ($20.5 million guaranteed) Matthews earned. Though it should be noted Matthews was a far more accomplished player when he earned his deal. Maybe a deal closer to Hali’s $57.5 million ($16 million guaranteed) is closer to Houston’s neighborhood."

Houston will be worth the investment as he has quickly risen to one of the best defensive players in the league.

The problem is that the Chiefs currently sit at roughly $3.8 million in cap space but, if they do in fact CUT, not trade, Brandon Flowers that could go a long way in getting Houston a new deal before the season starts.

This of course is just leading closer to the inevitable loss of Tamba Hali next season but, who knows?

Maybe Hali will be willing to restructure his deal to stay in KC. At this point in his career, he might not want to re-locate (fingers crossed).
