2017 - QB Patrick Mahomes: A++++++

There isn't a grade high enough that you could give this pick. It breaks the scale.

The greatest player in Chiefs history and the most successful QB of his generation, Patrick Mahomes is a fire-breathing dragon capable of snatching victory from the jaws of defeat at any moment. He's the tide that lifts all boats, ensuring Kansas City will be competitive for at least the next decade as he seemingly adds new wrinkles to his otherworldly game every season.

Through six years as a starter, Mahomes has three Super Bowls and Super Bowl MVPs, two regular-season MVPs, three All-Pro nods, 28,424 passing yards, 219 passing TDs to just 63 interceptions with a 77.1% winning percentage. He has no modern comparison; he's just chasing the ghosts of legends' past.

Even when the Chiefs are trailing by double-digits and things are bleak, I'm never scared. Mahomes has earned our trust and come through in the biggest moments time and time again. Kansas City is unfathomably lucky to have him as our QB and I'm almost certain the celebrations aren't slowing down any time soon.

It's a beautiful twist of irony that the Chiefs traded with the Bills to land Mahomes, only to later trade in front of them to pick McDuffie. A lot had to go right for Mahomes to become a Kansas City Chief.

Thankfully, just about everything did go right.
