I thought we'd seen enough drama this week about Tyreek Hill facing the Chiefs for the first time since he was traded, but I was wrong!

We've wondered why the NFL would schedule THIS game in Germany instead of at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. Well, Nate Taylor of The Athletic is reporting he knows the answer.

According to Taylor, this is what the Chiefs wanted.

Chiefs Insider Claims Team Didn’t Want Tyreek Hill at Arrowhead Stadium

"The Chiefs chose this."

Taylor, an excellent reporter by any measure, felt comfortable enough to say that the Chiefs elected not to move the Dolphins matchup back to Kansas City. Instead, Taylor reports the organization chose to host Detroit and surrendered a home game to take on Miami in Germany.

While he notes a piece is coming on Saturday in The Athletic, Taylor heavily insinuates in the audio above that the NFL scheduled Chiefs vs. Dolphins as an international contest only after conferring with the Chiefs.

"They (the Chiefs) didn't want you to boo Tyreek Hill," says Taylor. "That is what they've chosen."

It's a fascinating piece of reporting for several reasons. Teams can make scheduling requests, as the Chiefs have previously, though the ultimate decision falls in the hands of six NFL executives.

A Chiefs vs. Dolphins matchup at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium would have been one of the most anticipated games in Kansas City in years, given the implications of Hill's return. The idea that the organization elected to keep the game in Germany instead is interesting, to say the least.

Regardless, the Chiefs are focused on containing Hill and coming out with a win. Perhaps limiting potential distractions was a wise move, indeed.
