Sporting KC takes on the Galaxy in Los Angeles tonight as sizeable underdogs in a rematch of a 0-0 draw back in March. Despite a slow start to the season, Sporting jumped back into the playoff race by posting the most wins (5) in the Western Conference since the start of May.

It’s been a miserable season for the Galaxy, who sit in 13th place in the conference with a 3-9-4 record. Adding injury to insult, Chicarito will miss the remained of the year after scoring four goals across two matches against Sporting last season.

Given the teams’ recent performances, I see betting value on the road team. Let’s check out the odds before I explain why.

LA Galaxy vs Sporting KC Odds, Spread, and Total

LA Galaxy vs Sporting KC Prediction and Betting Pick

Sporting has a postseason berth in its sights, having lost just once in its last five matches. They’re unbeaten in their last five against the Galaxy as well and I struggle to see why KC is a two-to-one underdog in today’s contest.

Led by Alan Pulido, who netted a goal in each of his last three matches, Sporting averaged 2.4 goals per game over those previous five as the offense improved after getting key players back from injury. Los Angeles, on the other hand, averaged just 1.6 per game in that stretch, clearly reeling from Chicarito’s loss.

Normally a powerhouse at home, the Galaxy lost four of its last six MLS games in Los Angeles, including a shutout to a lowly Charlotte team that’s surrendered the most goals (33) of any team in the league this year.

Simply put, the Galaxy’s offense is struggling while Sporting is surging. I’d argue the visitors should be favored given the current state of each club, so I’m thrilled to get this much value on the team that’s playing much better soccer.

Back Sporting to stay hot as it continues to fight its way into the playoff picture.
