UDFAs who could make KC Chiefs’ roster

3. Dicaprio Bootle, CB (Nebraska)

Maybe I’m biased here, as I’ve tortured myself by watching a lot of Nebraska football but Dicaprio Bootle is someone who could really surprise Chiefs fans this summer. The star of Nebraska’s defense, Bootle was always flying around the football field.

He finished his four-year Husker career totaling 110 tackles, defending 26 passes, and forcing two fumbles. He’s a versatile player who could be plugged in either as a cornerback or as a safety and that’s definitely an appealing factor here.

Unlike Devon Key, Bootle struggles with tackling but he’s a scrappy defender, that’s for sure. He has the kind of energy that the Chiefs could certainly use on defense and he plays a lot tougher than his size would indicate. He wouldn’t ever be a starter but after an impressive Pro Day, Bootle has shown explosiveness and the Chiefs might find that he fits in well with their team.

Look for him to make a difference on special teams and maybe get some reps in the secondary down the road.
