KC Chiefs Mock Draft 7.0

Round 5: Pick 175 – Josh Palmer, WR (Tennessee)

839. . Wide Receiver. Volunteers . Josh Palmer. 175. player

With Sammy Watkins out the door, the Chiefs need to find a No. 2 wide receiver who can produce for this offense. Josh Palmer of Tennessee isn’t someone who will be able to be that right away, but he’s someone who could be developed and hopefully transform into that for KC.

Palmer didn’t record more than 500 receiving yards in any of his four years for the Volunteers, but he found the end zone four times in 2020. He might not be a huge threat but the Chiefs could certainly use a red-zone weapon and Palmer could be that.

Part of why Palmer’s stats at Tennessee weren’t great is partly due to the quarterback issues the Volunteers had. He’s a talented receiver and could be really dangerous with Andy Reid as his coach and Patrick Mahomes as his quarterback.

Ideally, the Chiefs would draft a receiver sooner but now that they’re without a third-round pick and have one less fourth-round selection, Palmer was the best option at this point in the mock draft.
