RB3 Options for Chiefs in 2021 – No. 3: Pooka Williams (Draft Prospect)

There’s no reason for the Chiefs to draft a running back before Day 3 and honestly, they could wait until the sixth round to do so if they are going to bring one in. If that’s the route they go, local prospect Pooka Williams could be an option for the Chiefs.

Williams played college football for the Kansas Jayhawks, meaning he attended school less than an hour away from Kansas City. For those unfamiliar with KU football, Williams was the bright spot on a very dull offense the past few years. He rushed for over 1,000 yards in both the 2018 and 2019 season

Williams had nine total touchdowns as a freshman in 2018 and while his number of touchdowns decreased to five in 2019, it was mostly because KU had another decent running back. This meant that Williams wasn’t the only one making plays for the Jayhawks.

Some Chiefs fans wouldn’t want to see the team spend a draft pick on a running back and while I totally understand that sentiment, Pooka Williams would be worthy of a late-round pick. He’d have the potential to work his way up the running back ladder in the coming years and become a special player for this team.
