The KC Chiefs still have needs to address in free agency and the new league year begins on Wednesday afternoon.

The last position to be considered important, perhaps vital, for the Kansas City Chiefs is left tackle. Now that Trent Williams is off the table, other options include former Vikings tackle Riley Reiff and former Steelers tackle Alejandro Villanueva.

More than anything else, if the Chiefs can find a solid option, even if it’s not spectacular, the left tackle spot solidifies the offensive line and allows the Chiefs to enter the rest of the offseason without major needs.

Yes, the Chiefs will need to look to the future at three important positions – Cornerback, linebacker, and pass catcher. Skill position players are the people that help teams win, so finding people that can be allowed to step in and develop for a year without being counted on is the type of thing that allows teams to compete for division titles and more year after year.

Left tackle remains the top area to be addressed for the KC Chiefs in free agency.

I won’t be surprised to see the Kansas City Chiefs look at taking their second tight end position far more seriously than they have in years past. Without a fullback on the roster, it would make sense to find a viable and realistic option at the position.

Do the Chiefs wait until the draft or do they find a different option, perhaps a tight end that would allow Travis Kelce to be moved around more in a receiver and perhaps even an H-back type role? Getting Kelce off the line could help extend his career.

Linebacker is another area I wouldn’t be surprised if the Chiefs looked at, though based on past behavior of draft pick and free agent money, the organization isn’t likely to prioritize this spot. Damien Wilson is likely departing this year and Ben Niemann is not under contract. Bodies, at a minimum, will be brought in. From where and how much is spent remains to be seen.

At this point, by the time this is read, the Chiefs may have addressed the left tackle position. Personally, I prefer Villanueva or Reiff, as they have proven to be durable. However, finding anyone that can play left tackle, with as strong as the rest of the line appears to be, and this organization is in a great position to really find the future in the upcoming draft and beyond.
