Tight Ends for KC Chiefs to Target in Free Agency: Gerald Everett

One of the more well-known names to hit free agency at the tight end position is Gerald Everett of the Rams. Everett finished the 2020 season with 41 receptions for 417 yards and one touchdown through the 16 games he appeared in (he started seven of those games).

KC Kingdom’s own John McCarty made a list of potential free agents he’d like to see the Chiefs sign and Everett made his list. Here was what John had to say,

"Everett is another young tight end that can do a lot of what the Chiefs ask Kelce to do. If the Chiefs are going to ride with an aging Kelce, they need to have someone behind him capable of doing some of the same basic things."

Everett split time with Tyler Higbee in Los Angeles but his role would be more carved out in Kansas City. He’d be the TE2 behind Kelce and as John mentioned above, Everett is used to helping out as a blocker and could be a nice addition to this offense.

The problem is that Everett might not come cheap and the Chiefs don’t have a lot of cash to spend, especially on a backup tight end.
