Kansas City Chiefs Free Agent Targets – Nick Easton, Center

Nick Easton was recently released by the New Orleans Saints in an attempt to clean up their salary cap situation (it’s really ugly) so not only can he be signed at any time, he won’t count against the Chiefs if they lose players for 2022 compensatory draft picks. Signed players can cancel out lost players. Released players don’t count. The Ravens always take advantage of this in a big way.

Easton has been with multiple teams since entering the league with the Ravens in 2015. He is a quality safeguard/depth interior offensive piece, a player that could help solidify the depth along the interior and possibly be a starter at center.

Easton has played in wide-open passing offenses and has shown versatility, contributing at both center and guard. He’s a player Reid would like, assuming the price is right. Easton will turn 29 this spring, so a two or three-year deal could make sense and provide value to both parties.

Clearly, the Chiefs need help along the offensive line, and with Austin Reiter hitting free agency, bringing Nick Easton in makes a lot of sense for this team.
