What did we learn about the KC Chiefs?

The only team to make the playoffs from the AFC West was the Kansas City Chiefs, but that might not be the case next year. The Chargers will be worthy adversaries in 2021 and if the Raiders can get anything resembling a defense, they’ll be forces to reckon with as well.

The Chiefs locked up the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs after going 14-2 and looking nearly unstoppable for most of the season. Their two losses came to AFC West opponents and one of those was because the starters were sitting out. KC has the only first-round bye in the AFC playoffs and is looking to run it back.

Something positive that we learned about the Chiefs is that their offense is as good as always. Patrick Mahomes has put on a clinic for most of the year and while he might not win MVP, not a lot of teams would keep their quarterback if they could trade him for Mahomes. Travis Kelce is as beastly as always and could be in a prime position to win Offensive Player of the Year.

Something negative that we learned about the Chiefs is that they struggled to put opponents away and really close out games. Hopefully, that doesn’t come back to bite them in the postseason, but it definitely makes me nervous moving forward.

Next up: The Chiefs can sit back, relax, and watch the Wild Card playoff games unfold this weekend to see who they’ll be hosting in the AFC Divisional Round. Who do you think it will be?

Normally I end the post with the AFC West standings and the divisional games taking place next week, but one is unnecessary and the other is impossible since no one from the division is playing next weekend. I’ll close by stating that while the Chiefs ran away with the division this season, 2021 might not be so easy for them.
