Proven winner

Carlos Santana spent his entire career to this point with the Indians, who had a winning season over the past eight years. Santana might not have always been the driving force behind those winning seasons, but he’s been a part of a lot of winning teams and will bring a winning attitude to Kansas City.

There aren’t many players remaining from the 2014/2015 seasons, meaning a lot of the players on this Royals roster haven’t experienced a winning season yet (or at least not if they’ve been with KC for their entire careers). Santana is going to help mold these players into winners and teach them what it takes to get to that next step.

Kansas City is more appealing to others

With Carlos Santana joining the Royals, it shows that he believes in what this team is doing moving forward. He believes the Royals are close to turning things around and wants to be a part of something special.

I’ve mentioned a few times how Santana has been in the big leagues for over a decade now. He’s obviously well-respected and perhaps his coming to Kansas City could be a draw for other free agents looking for a new home. The Royals still have some needs on their roster and if Santana can help them fill those needs, that makes this move even better.
