Chiefs Kingdom

This is more of a personal take, but I am going to put it in here anyway. When I became a Chiefs fan upon moving to Kansas City four years ago, I have never in my life found a group of people more welcoming than Chiefs fans. No matter where you are from or what team you root for, if you are at Arrowhead on a Sunday you will be invited to at least 8-10 different tailgates to have a beer and try their homemade BBQ sauce that they swear is the best in the world.

Right now, that type of community is needed and valued more than ever, and in a time where it seems our country is torn apart and everyone is against everyone else and sectioned off into different groups and parties, Chiefs Kingdom is a group where everyone is welcome. Chiefs Kingdom cares not about your religious views or political affiliation, nor does Chiefs Kingdom care about your age, gender, or race, for the only colors that matter in Chiefs Kingdom are red and gold.

In my time as a Chiefs fan, I have never experienced such acceptance and had such pleasant exchanges both over social media and in person, then I do with Chiefs fans. When you are talking to a Chiefs fan, you need not worry what they might say regarding what religious deity you worship or who you voted for in the election, all that matters is “how bout those Chiefs!”

Indeed, in these troubling times that we currently face, this is a breath of fresh air, for sometimes I feel that Chiefs Kingdom is the only place that will not be divided or torn apart, for all of our differences, we have one huge and very important thing in common, that brings us all together on Sunday afternoon, and that is our love for our team. No matter what is going on in the world, Chiefs Kingdom will always stand strong, and for that, I am very thankful.
