Give me a player or two on defense to watch for who needs to play well in order to slow down the Chiefs’ offense.

“Of course that lists begins with J.J. Watt, as the defensive end is healthy once again. Also, rookie Ross Blacklock on the defensive line is being thrown into a big-time role as a second-round pick. The secondary of the Texans must be strong, so watch for safety Justin Reid and cornerback Bradley Roby. They will need to have great games against the offense of the Chiefs for any success to go the way of the Texans.”

Who will be Deshaun Watson’s No. 1 target Thursday night?

“Don’t be surprised if the No. 1 target will be Will Fuller, but it won’t be by much. The Texans offense could be an offense without one standout receiver, but go by the best match-up. Also, David Johnson in pass catching will be key for the Texans in this game, as he too will be a big target of Deshaun Watson in Week 1.

The Texans have the players to have a big-play offense with all of the speed by wide receivers Fuller, Randall Cobb, Kenny Stills and Brandin Cooks, so though their receivers might not (overpower) the opponent, they have the chance to be a very fast offense who can make the big play when needed.”

How do you see Thursday night’s game playing out?

“Wow, this is going to be a tough game for the Houston Texans because they are facing the reigning Super Bowl champions. That said, the Texans still have to prove they are over the collapse of the playoffs from last year.

Kansas City has the advantage in this as they have improved from last season entering this season, so though this can be a competitive game, the Chiefs will most likely break away in the second half to gain the win as their team as a whole is stronger than the Texans are in Week 1.”

There you have it. The Texans look different since the last time they visited Kansas City, but this team remains a formidable foe. To win, the Chiefs must not take them lightly or pull back. But I like Stephen’s ultimate prediction with the Chiefs breaking away in the second half.

Happy opening week, everyone!
