SIT ‘EM #1

10. . Running Back. Houston Texans. David Johnson. 1. player

While David Johnson isn’t necessarily a bad play this week, he’s risky. After being one of the best running backs in the entire NFL, injuries took their toll on Johnson and before you knew it, he was a shell of himself.

For some reason, that led Bill O’Brien to trading for him and shipping DeAndre Hopkins off in exchange for Johnson’s services. Yeah, I still don’t get it, but none of us know what’s going through O’Brien’s head.

With how badly KC struggled against the run last year (mostly in the first half of the season), Johnson could end up having a decent night, but he falls into the category of “Only start him if you don’t have a better option”, so he lands in the Sit ‘Em section for week one.

SIT ‘EM #2

. D/ST. Houston Texans. Texans D/ST. 2. player. 10

With this likely being an offensive heavy game, neither defense is a good option to start. The Texans probably aren’t going to be on many people’s rosters this year and actually sit dead last in Fantasy Pro’s list of fantasy defenses for week one.

Any defense that’s going against the Chiefs isn’t one you want to have in your starting slot, but pair that with Houston’s lackluster unit as it is and you’ll definitely want them on the bench.

SIT ‘EM #3

3. player. 124. . D/ST. Kansas City Chiefs. Chiefs D/ST

The Chiefs defense improved last year, this much is true, but that doesn’t mean they’re always going to be a safe unit to start. Watson has put up good numbers against Kansas City in the past and that’ll remain the case on Thursday.

While Kansas City probably gets a sack or two on Watson, he’s going to get his against the defending champs and that’s why you should keep the Chiefs D on the sidelines for the first game of the season.
