Refuting Colin Cowherd’s list of why KC Chiefs won’t win five more titles

Reasons Cowherd doesn’t believe in KC Chiefs: Number 4 – Bill Belichick

Rebuttal:

… what if he gets a great quarterback? Excuse me, didn’t he just let a great quarterback move on down to Tampa Bay?

You will get no argument from me that Tom Brady isn’t even close to what he used to be. He has passed the point where he can put a team of nobodies on his back and say “let’s go win the Super Bowl”, he is going to need some help, no doubt about it, and that is why things didn’t work out for him last year.

Had Belichick surrounded Brady with weapons, then he might still have a great quarterback, at least for another few years before Brady hangs up his cleats. Belichick might draft and plug in some rock star college quarterback, but until he plugs in some weapons, that quarterback will struggle no matter who he is.

Is Cowherd really suggesting that unless Belichick replenishes his supply of weapons, that a young, inexperienced college quarterback will see more success then Tom Brady? Let me be clear, Belichick is an absolutely brilliant coach, one of the greatest football coaches of all time, but all he can do is coach and draw up the plays. Players make plays, and right now, he doesn’t have any players capable of beating the Chiefs.

The Chiefs have faced the Pats four times sense Mahomes was drafted and have gone 1-2 against them with Mahomes under center. The last time the Chiefs faced the Pats, Brady was bereft of weapons as I have mentioned, and even though it was a close game the Chiefs still came away with the victory.

I’ll say it again, just so everyone knows where I stand, Bill Belichick is one of the greatest coaches of all-time, and no doubt he will continue to be a problem in the AFC as long as he is still wearing a whistle.

As mentioned earlier though, players make plays, and just drafting some inexperienced hot shot quarterback who just started shaving, may not bring the Patriots back to total and utter dominance like Cowherd seems to believe it will.
