WHAT DID WE LEARN ABOUT THE CHARGERS?

After being one of the top teams in the league a season ago, the Los Angeles Chargers have crashed in 2019, and crashed hard, at that. Their latest disappointment came in their drubbing to the Vikings in which they lost 39-10 at home (though was it really at home? Sounded like a lot of Vikings fans made the trip to Los Angeles).

One thing is for sure after the loss and that’s that Philip Rivers is likely nearing the end of his Chargers career. He threw for over 300 yards on Sunday, but was also picked off three times. He was sacked three times and hit another five times.

His run game did nothing to help him though, tallying just 62 yards on the ground. Keenan Allen and Mike Williams had good days, but any decent numbers the offense put up was overshadowed by four lost fumbles. FOUR.

The defense gave up 39 points, but held Kirk Cousins to 207 passing yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Somehow the stout pass rush was not able to bring Cousins down and they only hit him once. It was a poor effort by the Bolts pass rush.

Overall, this was an absolutely atrocious outing by the Chargers. They were shut out in the second half and were unable to do anything offensively. That should officially put an end to Rivers’ tenure with the organization, but crazier things have happened.

Next up for the Chargers in what’s become a lost season is a date with the Raiders in the late window of games.
