WINNER: SAMMY WATKINS

I know I said I wouldn’t use the obvious ones, but Sammy Watkins deserves a spot on here for sure. The Chiefs WR2 finished his day with nine receptions for 198 yards and found the end zone three (count ’em – THREE) times!

Even before Tyreek Hill had gotten injured (more on that later), Watkins had been having himself a day and at one point there was absolutely no one covering him. He was able to trot into the end zone with ease.

If the Chiefs want to continue being the offensive threat they were a season ago, then Watkins has to stay healthy and continue to produce at this high-level. He sure showed what he can do when healthy in week one!

WINNER: PATRICK MAHOMES

Another obvious one, but Patrick Mahomes also has to be included here. He threw for 300 yards in the first half alone and finished the day with 378 yards and three touchdowns.

After not throwing a touchdown against the Jaguars last year, he was able to shake that “ugly” stat off quickly, scoring on the first drive. He also had thrown two picks against the Jags last year, but didn’t throw a single one against them on Sunday.

While Mahomes did get nicked up a bit in this one and it showed a bit more as the game went along, he was rocking and rolling in the first half. The games will only get tougher and more grueling as the weeks progress, so it’s important that Mahomes remains healthy through the duration of the season.
