WAN’DALE ROBINSON IS GOING TO BE FUN TO WATCH

Even with the lack of offensive firepower in this game, Husker fans got a nice glimpse of what freshman Wan’Dale Robinson can do and ooh boy is he going to be a blast to follow over the next few years!

Robinson finished the day with four carries for 21 yards, three receptions for 33 yards, and really took it to the Jaguars on special teams with 77 yards in the return game on special teams. Simply put – Teams are going to have a hard time game planning against the kid from Kentucky.

Aside from Robinson, there wasn’t much else to celebrate on offense.

Speaking of…

DID ADRIAN MARTINEZ ALREADY SINK HIS HEISMAN HOPES?

Okay that might be a little dramatic, but the Cornhusker quarterback did not look good in the season opener. Maybe it was just nerves from being hyped all offseason or maybe it was the kinks and getting the rust off for what’s hopefully a dominant season, but whatever it was – Adrian Martinez wasn’t feeling it on Saturday.

I mentioned earlier how Martinez only rushed for six yards (off 13 carries), but he also struggled throwing the ball. He finished the day going 13 of 22 for 178 yards and an interception (he was almost picked off two other times), which aren’t exactly stellar numbers, even for a run-heavy offense like Nebraska.

There were a lot of high expectations for Martinez coming into the season and he did not play like a Heisman Trophy hopeful. Hopefully it was just nerves and the exhilarating quarterback can light up Colorado next week because a lot of Nebraska’s success this season rides and dies with Adrian Martinez.
